Our Story
Akaso was born from the streets, livehouses, bars and music scene in Osaka, Japan. Compared to Tokyo, Osaka is raw, grungy, and real. The alternative community here is just the same: people who deeply care about one another and what they put out into the world. At Akaso, we aim to emulate this in our apparel. Most of our items are one-of-a-kind and handmade in house.
We believe that true alternative fashion isn’t mass produced in a factory but rather with a little bit of heart in each design.
Our Designer
Our head designer Cat graduated from Osaka Mode Gakuen in March 2025. When it came time to look for a job, she landed a position doing repairs for a vintage import chain. Shocked by the sheer amount of clothing that exists in the world, she decided to focus her designs on remaking used clothing and in-house handmade rather than producing with a manufacturer.
Our Community
Osaka Alt Nites, which produce events like Emo Nite and Pass the Aux, are also spearheaded by our designer; it was only natural that we would create alternative fashion for our ever-growing community not only in Osaka but also the world.
We hope that our designs inspire you to live a little more sustainably while also looking like the badass you are.
